Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on March 5.
Lent is the period of 40 days (not counting the Sundays) from Ash Wednesday to the celebration of Easter. Lent is a time to walk boldly with Jesus and to focus our eyes on God’s love and presence so we can take hope into our future, our Easter joy. Maybe this year is the time to take up a Lenten practice for you and/or your family to strengthen your faith walk. Give up something for Lent… maybe eating out or buying that expensive coffee and use the money saved to buy food for the food pantry. There is also the practice of taking up something to strengthen love for God and others for Lent… set aside time to pray each day, start a time of family devotions after a meal, do something kind for someone anonymously each day of Lent. Think about what might be a new Lenten practice for you.
